Joshua Riff, MD, MBA - Triathlete Nutrition

Josh will share his challenges, studies and experiences regarding nutrition for triathletes. Keep reading for more information about Josh. FYI he spoke at the Baltimore club and comes highly recommended from their club president, Kevin. He also is in my swim lane (ahead of me, Greg) so I can vouch for the fact that he is knowledgeable and a genuinely nice guy.

Educational Background: Bsc in Biology with a focus on human nutrition at McGill University, Medical School at Tufts University, Emergency Medicine Residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Athletic Background: World Triathlon and Duathlon Championships 1998, IM Lake Placid and Utah 2002, 1st age group Columbia 2004, 2nd age group Eagleman 2004, Hawaii 2004 qualified athlete.

Services: Personal nutrition consulting for athletes involved in endurance training. Consults focus on daily nutrition strategies, recovery and race day intake, and legal performance enhancer's. Topics covered include hydration, calorie needs, sodium intake, use of caffeine, and many others.

Consultation is also available for athletes and non-athletes looking to lose weight through a new diet entitled "Weight Loss/Weight Maintenance, Feeding the Cycle" that is based on scientific principles of diet failures and increasing ones basal metabolic rate. This diet is currently being field tested and will hopefully be published in the next few years.
