Princeton Sports will be our featured speaker for the May member meeting. OPEN WATER SWIM MAY 6 th !

OK everyone here's the deal on the long awaited first open water swim of the season. It will be held on Saturday May 6, 2006 at Sandy Point State Park.  (Go east on route 50 and look for signs to the Park BEFORE you get to the Bay Bridge.  There is a $5.00/person admission fee for Md residents, $6.00 for non residents.  When you get into the Park go as far as you can and park in the last parking lot on the right.  There's a changing room with showers.  When you get to the beach go right toward the Bridge and look for other crazy people carrying their wetsuits.

We're going to do the swim like this.  People with little or no open water experience should arrive between 1000 and 1015 to be ready to get into the water by 1030.  We will have coaches there to give some instruction and to keep an eye on people when they get into the water.  The general open swim will start at 1100.  We will set buoys out before so you will know how far you are swimming and can get practice sighting.

The water will be cold. (use the link of the website to check the temperature in the Bay.)  Bring 2 swim caps or a neoprene cap in addition to your wetsuit. Bring a thermos of something warm to drink and some energy bars, fruit, PB and J sandwiches -- whatever.  Bring several towels and lots of warm clothes. You might also want to bring a blanket to hand out on. If thunderstorms are predicted we will not swim.

Princeton Bike Rides:

The Princeton bike rides will be starting in Mid April please contact Princeton Sports in Columbia for further details.

New MMTC Sponsor 2006:

For 2006 we picked up another new sponsor called The Water Doctor. They will be supplying our club with beaucoup cases of pure, natural, ultra clean and clear water, just the way nature intended. Don't be drinkin' that other swill, chill with the Doctor, The Water Doctor that is. We plan on bringing the cases to all our races for refreshments after a hard earned triathlon finish. We're hoping we can supply the Run Bike Runs with this water also. Thank you Water Doctor for quenching the MMTC thirst!

MMTC Apparel:

If we get 16 members to order Louis Garneau cycling jackets they will cost $125.00 per jacket. The Jacket will have our Club colors and the MMTC Logo. I tried on a sample, and damn I looked good! These jackets are HOT! They're so hot you'll need oven mitts to put them on. If we have enough interest they will be here this fall. We will have samples at the next meeting and Chip Warfel will be handling the order.

We will also have tri-shorts available for order by Louis Garneau with our club colors, the cost will be $55.00. I didn't get to try these on, but I bet they'd make my butt look good too.

Mentoring Program 2006:

MMTC now has a full fledged mentoring program for new Triathletes. If you are interested in being a mentor or want to have a mentor please contact Sadj @ trisadj@aol.com
