2 June, Monday, 8:15PM - Monthly Club Meeting at Princeton Sports in Columbia, MD
Do you train and race with a heart rate monitor?  Do you want to learn more?  Then be at the June meeting to listen to Judy Reese discuss why you should use a heart rate monitor, how to determine Heart Zones, and Heart Zones training and benefits.  Judy is currently a Professional Fitness Instructor and Group Fitness Assistant for the Columbia Association and has been teaching group fitness classes for over 16 years.  She has a B.S. in Marketing from Penn State , holds certifications with ACE, Keiser Cycling, Precision/Schwinn Cycling, Heart Zones Cycling Level 3, and is also certified through Heart Zones USA in Power Watts Training and Threshold Training.

As always this event is open to the public. We encourage non-members to come and check us out, ask questions and meet some great folks. Directions to monthly meeting.

This Saturday, May 10th is the Annual Columbia Tri Brick-N-Pic
This is a multi-club, multi-faceted event. We do a run-bike-run brick workout on the Columbia Tri course and then we have a picnic! This has always been a great time; all parts of the brick and pic are optional. Go at your own pace this is not a race. Starting at 9:00 am, prior to the Brick-N-Pic, Chip will be conducting a transition clinic to get you in and out of T1 ant T2 ASAP!. The Brick-N-Pic will start promptly at 10:00 am. Picnic will be held at Pavilion B right next to the tot lot. Go to the entrance to the park off of Route 108. Right next to the transition area.

MMTC will be supplying - Burgers, Dogs, Sodas, Water, People (soilent green is people), fun, and good times.

If you are attending and your age is an odd number please if possible bring a small dessert, small please last year we had too many/much sweets.  If your age is an even number please bring an appetizer

Packet Stuffing - Have some free time?  Your help is needed on Thursday, May 15 at the Sheraton in Columbia beginning at 6:00 pm.
Packet Pick-up - Stop by the MMTC table on Friday or Saturday (5/16-17) to pick up your MMTC tattoos and say hi to our volunteers.
Race Day - the club tent will be set up at 5:00 am on the island right by the swim start.  Stop by, drop off your post-race gear, mingle with the members, calm your nerves or talk smack!

Open Water Swims are Starting! You have two choices each week -
1) Thursdays beginning May 1 with Chip Warfel in Arnold, MD (contact Chip  for more info and to sign up)
2) Sunday mornings at Sandy Point State Park beginning May 11 at 8:00 am.
We will swim long laps parallel to the beach in chilly but not deep water. There is no charge for the swim, but it costs $5/person to enter the park.  Bring a wetsuit and cap - check water temps here

Call for Volunteers! - 2008 Club Tents
MMTC is planning it's club tents for this season and if you are a member in good standing and you are looking for a place to contribute to your club and community get in touch with call for volunteers for the club tent at Columbia, South Carroll, Eagleman and Irongirl. Volunteers receive a free one year membership in 2009!!

Need Some Speed?   Then get out to Howard HS on Thursday nights at 6:00 pm for Doug Mock's speed work sessions.  The 8-week program officially starts on April 17 and costs only $50.  Contact Doug for more info.

Return of the RBR! (Run-Bike-Run)  - Began March 19, 2008 and will continue until it gets dark at an early hour.
Are you a little slow after winter? Do you need to practice transitions and get sweaty? Arnat Vale will be coaching the Run-Bike-Runs again and the time is coming up fast! Get you bike tuned up, lace up your shoes and come check it out. More info here!

Long Rides Continue - Saturdays, 8 :00 am , Hollifield Station Elementary School in Ellicott City
Come participate in some bike training. This started in November and is still going strong. Leaving at 8:00 am from Hollifield Station Elementary School in Ellicott City, and continuing as long as the riders show. All levels of riders are welcome to come and ride at your own pace. Cue sheets will be available for various distances.
