Are you new to MMTC?

Are you new to triathlons?

Are you looking to train for a new triathlon distance?

Are you looking for support and guidance from a veteran athlete?

Do you love triathlons and want to share your knowledge and excitement about the sport?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the MMTC Mentoring Program is looking for you!

What is the mentoring program?

The MMTC Mentoring Program is a formal, voluntary relationship between an experienced athlete and a new or less experienced athlete looking to get into triathlons or train for a new distance.

Mentoring has been identified as an important influence in training and race readiness for all levels of athletes. Mentoring can be another effective component of an athlete’s overall balanced training program. The major function of mentoring within triathlon training is to promote the newer athlete’s development and comfort within one or all of the disciplines in the sport of triathlon.

What are the distances of different triathlon races?

If this is a question you commonly ask yourself, you are in the right place. The mentoring program will seek to serve triathletes interested in training for any of the triathlon racing distances.

Race      Swim      Bike      Run
Sprint 750m (0.5mi) 20km (12.4mi) 5km (3.2mi)
Olympic 1.5km (0.9mi) 40km (24mi) 10km (6.2mi)
Half-Ironman (70.3) 1.9km (1.2mi) 90km (56mi) 21km (13.1mi)
Ironman (140.6) 3.8km (2.4mi) 180km (112mi) 42km (26.2mi)

Does this mean I get a personalized training session with a coach?

Unfortunately, no. The MMTC Mentoring Program is not a coaching program, but a program that will attempt to best match your expressed needs with someone who has the skill set and desire to assist you in meeting your realistic goals.

Enrollment for 2022 has now closed, but if you are still interested in being a mentee or a mentor, please email the Mentoring Coordinator.
