A Letter from our Club President

The Mid Maryland Triathlon Club grew to over 350 members in 2009. We were able to support our veteran athletes and encourage our newest members with events such as coached swim clinics, weekly run-bike-run sessions at Gateway Drive, brick-n-pic workouts (a brick workout followed by a picnic at Centennial Park), and of course our famous race day tents where we mentored and supported many members at various races during the year.

At the Columbia Triathlon we had over 75 members racing and another 20-25 volunteering. During the IronGirl race in August, MMTC manned each water stop on the run course, supporting over 1800 athletes with water and plenty of encouragement. MMTC had approximately 100 ladies participate in the IronGirl event in 2009.

On January 9th, MMTC is hosting the first annual "Tri to Tie" awards banquet and dance at the Turf Valley Resort. We will be honoring, among others, our first inductee into the MMTC Hall of Fame. I know some of you are planning to attend and I look forward to seeing you there for a great night of entertainment.

All of this would not be possible without the support of our corporate sponsors. In 2010, we are looking to increase our membeship to the 400-member mark and continue to mentor a healthly lifestyle and promote the sport of triathlon amongst our members and community.
