Don't think I would have showed if I hadn't told so many people I was doing the race. The thought of having to say "the rain coming down sideways kept me away" got me out the front door. In the car I'm thinking "I'm sure they'll cancel, who'd run in this stuff?!?" Only to find a bunch of other idiots warming up (or trying to) in the rain and wind. Oh well, no turing back now. Only decision to make was weather to run with my Stearns on or not (decided not to).
As this was my first 10k, I was shooting for 55 min, but would've been happy with anything under an hour. With the conditions and 8lbs of wet running gear (I measured after the race), I was happy with a 56.
Clyde's lived up to its reputation for the post race spread. Wow! Plenty to eat, especially since only half the field showed. Would have liked to stay longer and gorge myself, but I was starting to losing feeling in my extremities....
Sure hope Lake Anna warms up about 10 degrees before Sunday!
