Had great low heart rate training runs leading up to this, but very disappointed with my time. Lesson learned: TAPER! The week prior included a 10k at race pace, 2-hour bike ride, normal swim days, strength training including squats, and a 3-mile run on Thursday. My legs were not fresh. I had soreness on Thursday, which should have been my sign to stop. Next lesson is to start closer to the front. It was so crowded and I spent a lot of extra energy zig zagging through the walls of people. On the positive side, it was a great race day, nice and cool. The race is a nice venue with a great Under Armour t-shirt.
