It seemed like I was not the only runner to sit in his car for as long as possible, while terrencial rain and wind pounded the pre-race activities. Clearly, almost have the people who registered, decided not to do this wet, cold race...WHIMPS.
At one point, I was even thinking about running without a shirt, just to not be weighed down with wet clothing, but I came to my senses and even wore a run jacket. I did jetison the sock, though.
As we were told to get to the start a few hundred feet from the pre-race registration, the rain began to subside from its "Noah's Ark" pace.
The race circles the Columbia Mall, then winds to Rt. 108. I warmed up quickly and took my jacket off (weight proably a good 3lbs by now) and they it in a spot I know I could recognize and retrive after the race. Looking at my results, I wish I had taken it off sooner, or not worn it at all.
One of my season goals is to run a 10k under 46min, and if I had looked at my watch sooner, I think I could have picked it up a litter more, but I am still VERY pleased with the results and am quite shocked, frankly.
Thank goodness the Tomato Palace opened its doors for us to warm up and sit down for for great HOT food. As cold as it was, I did pass on the beer...even though it probably was nice and cold..!?
