Race Report:

Swim 31:32 Even after chilling out at the tent while waiting for my wave to begin, I was not able to get comfortable in the water. As a result I was not able to sustain any consistent rhythm. Did anyone else see that guy wearing the footies?

Bike 1:38:01 A chunk of this time was due to spending a long time in transition getting my act together after the swim. I followed the race advice received at our May meeting and as a result I had a good ride, playing leap frog with several age groupers. I would zoom past them down the hills, and then give it up on the climbs. They got me on that last hill coming up to Rt. 108 and that was that.

T-2 Again, I spent much longer than normal in transition. Doing so allowed me to change into dry socks and a dry shirt, thereby sacrificing time for comfort. At race end I was happy with my choice.

Run 1:01:18 First, I was happy to finish at a sub-10 minute pace. I enjoyed seeing all the Mid-Marylanders on the course and appreciated the shout of encouragement from Lisa. One of the Clydes passing me by pushed me to pick up the pace. I hung w/ hime for most of the last mile and felt good at the end of the run.

Thanks to all the tent volunteers - you guys made our day.

See you at Eagleman!
