Comment: "I love that dirty water"

Race Report:

The 2007 Iron Girl was the first tri I ever signed up for and finishing it was such a great personal accomplishment. This year I raced as the swimmer on a relay team. I'm not sure that I really like racing relay as there's far too much waiting around for my taste. First, the relay went off in the last wave, more than 1.5 hours after the first wave and then there was another 1.5 hours+ spent waiting while my teammates were out on the course. Being able to hang out at the club tent helped make it tolerable.

My swim went smoothly, except for when my cap slipped off my head, but I wish I could have put down a faster split.

My biker, Regina, did an awesome job, finishing the ride in just over an hour. Her only disappointment is that her friend beat her by 17 seconds ;)

My runner, Jenny, figured she could do the distance in 34+, but was hoping for 30+. However, she had never seen the course and underestimated the hills and they gobbled her up. She finished in 37+

The positives:
1) This was Jenny's second triathlon and now she's totally pumped to do Iron Girl solo next year and to join MMTC.

2) I'd forgotten how much I love the Iron Girl vibe and hanging at the club tent made the experience even more special. I'm pumped about doing it again solo next year.

3) This was Regina's first timed ride event. She's not a swimmer or runner so she won't be doing solo triathlon but I'm glad that I was able to help give her that sweet ride.
