Comment: RR: Unlikely PR For Clyde's 10K

Race Report:

Unlikely PR Clyde’s 10K 31st Annual
This is my favorite running race. It’s local, well known, top runners, hilly course, BEST FOOD SPREAD EVER, beer.

Friday: My last training run prior to the race. I felt like I was running through water. I was struggling to hold an 8 minute pace on my last mile. I chocked it up to stress, but went into the weekend thinking that my hopes for a PR were over at any rate.

Sunday: Woke up well rested ate a pop tart and drank a ½ pot of coffee to get things moving. On my way to the race I stopped off to get a can of coke to top off my caffeine supply. (Ah yes the breakfast of champions, pop tarts, coffee, and coke!) ;-)
Sucked on a few peppermint candies before the race and chit chatted with Sadj, Walter, Todd, Toby, Dave D., Ken K., Deano, Dave O,….tons of other MMTC peeps in the house! I tried to seed myself near the front as I was actually feeling pretty good.
Well, the horn went off and the race was on. First mile 6:26, second mile 6:23, hills at miles 3 & 4 & 5 6:50, 6:58, 6:55. Last mile 6:41. With the last .2 miles my chip time was 41:35 big time PR for me! I’m 1:36 away from my goal for Clyde’s. I wonder if it was jinx or a hint that my race number was 39. ;-)
Celebrated with a beer and more chit chat with Holly G., Eriks, Heather, Bill, Sadj……went home to start my day of being a soccer dad. ;-)
CMS Peeps, Noah Wood recognized the CMS track top. He says, “hey” back to all you Eastern Shore folks! He had many props for Sean, Dave, Jude…..just to name a few…nice guy!
