I signed up for this race, but was not 100% due to the calf injury from April 2009. My coach and I decided it was not worth pushing through and risking a set back. So I just did the swim, and stopped. Then ran 9.1 miles with President Warfel.
No chip, I just timed myself for fun. About a minute slower than last year. It poured rain in the morning, so I was kind of glad I did not have to bike. It stopped raining about the time I got out of the water. Went out real fast, got out of breath, brought it back down, and finished strong. Two age groupers were standing up in front of me as I got out of the water. As it turned out, they were #1 and #2. One of them was Steve Meinenger, who ended up 3rd in the AG.
9.1 miles in 1:26. Slow and steady pace through the footpathes of Columbia. Never been back there before so it was interesting.
