Comment: Final prep race for my upcoming Ironman

Race Report:

This is a very fun race, and I was looking forward to trying to go all out as I am towards the end of my build phase for Ironman Florida. Unfortunately, the high mileage caught up with me, and I sustained an injury a few days before the race. I wasn't sure I would race, but hey, who was I fooling?

As others have said, the weather was great. It was cool at first, but by the start of the race, it was in the upper 60s and the water was cool and calm. I felt good swimming, and came in the .5 mile in 11:31, which is very fast for me. I had a relateively slow transition, and got on the bike. The injury (left ankle) was bothering me, but I felt really good otherwise, and wanted to go hard. I had to ease up a bit for the last half, but I still was happy with a 48:44 (19.08 mph) I had a very fast T2, but my leg was bothering me a lot by this time, so I had to really go slow in the run. I didn't wish to aggrevate it further, but I almost certainly did. I finished with a run (hobble) of 29:27, and although it was fun, I wish I could have run hard and moved up.

After the race, I headed back out on the roads to log more bike time, as it seems neverending in the quest for the IM. I had to take several days off after this and my leg is almost healed. 1.5 weeks to go until I taper. :)

This is a fun race, and it was fun to see the other MMTCs out on the course.
