My goal is to improve with every race. I accomplished that. There are still many ways to shave time off. I was excited to race here at home with all the club support. It was a great feeling to hear, “Go Mid Maryland” around every turn.
I arrived early so I could set up and relax. Twenty-five minute drive so it was easy. Peanut butter toast, blueberries, and OJ.
Swim was fair. You would think that with all the talk regarding fogging goggles last week I would have made sure mine were ready to go. Nope. Note to self #1: Clean goggles. One minute to go and fogging goggles. So I swam without being able to see well at all. Just following others. My time of 19:41 (66th) was ok but not what I had hoped for.
T-1 BOINK. 3:05 Yeah. Note to self #2: Check to see if kids messed with your helmet before the race. It wasn't a big deal but just enough to mess with my head. Literally.
The bike was an improvement. 58:06 (157th) Mike from Princeton Sports did a bike fit for me two weeks ago and made a lot of difference. This is where I think I can make the most improvement in races to come.
T-2 1:34 was fine. That went well.
I hate to run. However, I did improve. 27:26 (80th) was as well as I could have hoped. All the club support carried me along.
This was a fun, difficult, hot, satisfying course to complete.
My daughter was also competing this weekend in Tetrathalon for her Pony Club.
Swimming, Jumping her pony, Shooting, and Running. She had a blast and wants to try Kids Triathlon.
Thanks again to all club members who volunteered so all of us competing could have a successful race.
