Great weather (finally!). The week before was my first outdoor run in a month because of snow. It was chilly at the start, around 32 degrees, but warmed up to 50 degrees. Dave Wheeler and I ran together for the first 10 miles. He picked it up a bit, and I mentally struggled to go harder. It got to the point where I just wanted to walk and be done.
They say this is a flat course, but the Garmin showed an elevation gain of 3,000 feet. We also had some wind on the way back, making negative splits tough.
I managed to hold an 8:45 pace for the last 3 miles and finish 3' 40" faster than last year, so I'm very happy with that.
This is a great race. Easy to get to and you have access to the high school to stay warm and use their showers afterwards. Highly recommend doing this race.
