This is my first race as a member of MMTC, and my first race in four or five years. I signed up for Clyde’s last Tuesday as a training run for the Baltimore 10-Miler in June. I didn’t know what to expect from my time, but I was hoping to finish in under an hour.
I showed up around 7:30, and after picking up my packed, I ran into some MMTCers milling around the race route map, but unfortunately lost track of everybody when I went into Lakeside Deli to warm up with a cup of coffee before the race. When I was lining up at the start of the race, I did meet up with one my husband’s work friends and stayed with him throughout the race, which really helped me stay motivated and on pace. The course was hilly, but I felt like my training runs had prepared me pretty well. And although I was shivering at the start, it was actually a perfect morning for a run.
I had an issue with my chip, but crossed the finish at 57:49, and the friend I ran with (and crossed just after me) had a chip time of 56:14.
And the food afterward definitely lived up to its reputation. :)
