Race Report:

To me this felt like a smaller, and much hotter, version of Columbia.

I got to the race early to relax by the club tent before my swim start.

swim(26:56, 62/116 AG)
I was in the first wave, which was very nice considering the heat. The water was a toasty 85 degrees, and it seemed I was among the few wearing my tri top in the water. I, too, got caught up in the seaweed, but aside from that, the swim was relatively slow for me. Eventually I made it back to dry land.

T1(2:00, 34/116 AG)
Much easier without the wetsuit.

bike(49:36, 21.2, 3/116 AG)
Stayed in the big ring almost the whole time. On one of the big hills I stood up to pedal alternating about every 10 seconds. It wore down my running legs, but the technique kept my bike pace up. Cadence was slower than normal. Drank 3/4 of bottle of Hammer "Heed". Exact same pace as Columbia for me. Not sure how that happened!

T2(1:23, 17/116AG)
My fastest T2 yet!

run(26:22, 7:46, 10/116 AG)
This was my first race with the new Zoot shoes, and they were super light! The hills on the run sapped my energy quickly though. Next time I'll bring a roctane or a few shotblocks to eat at the end of the bike.

The club tent was awesome, and it was a pleasure meeting several club members including Lance, Hector, Curtis, and several others. The smoothies were great, and I know I ate too many of those homemade oatmeal cookies!
