Goals- To go faster than last year, and not crash on the bike. Enjoy the first race of the season with my husband.
R 1:07.01- ouch
After sitting on 108 in traffic for forty minutes, we finally made it to the park, and it was closed off to traffic. I guess we will leave earlier for the next race. Some nice people at the church let us park across from the park.
It was quite muddy and I was thinking to myself...this is going to be a little rough.
I opted not to wear the wetsuit since the water was 71. That is warm compared to the water we had to train in back in the old days of competitive swimming in Chicago. My swim time was 30 sec slower than last year, I had a hard time getting into a groove. I will have to improve my time at the next race.
The bike is my weakest leg. I had been on some longer rolling hill rides lately and felt decent. I hadn't done the course since last year...but will reconisder this next year. Now that my hubbie is finishing fellowship and passed his boards, we will have lots of time to train on the course. I actually was 10 min faster than last year.
Oh the run....not enough brick training. The hip was hurting and found myself limping along and needing to stretch the it band quite a bit. Tried to vomit. I bonked. Lesson taken- do more bricks and drink more fluids on the bike/run.
I just joined the club, and everyone at the tent was cheerful and welcoming. I look forward to racing with you all!
