First off thanks to Tim for organizing the OWS at Sandy Point Park and Bill heading the RBR. Both of these helped me to get comfortable with open water and my bike clip in shoes.
The race itself was fine but very wet, I of course rushed myself setting up my stuff in the transition area, forgot my bike water bottle and ran out of the transition area with my sunglasses on my head (of course I did not need them as the sun didn't come out.)
Swim:Little congested and they moved us out and then had us come back in a little. But it was fine, I made sure not too tire myself out by treading water too much, I allowed myself to float. And then we were off. A big improvement for me was sighting as I swam, I did not have to correct myself like last year. I was still glad after I passed the bouy into the homestretch.
Bike: I was a little scared of biking in the rain, and of course it started to pour as soon as I got onto 108. it stopped but I hd patches of rain for the rest of my ride and run. Once I got over the fear and just took my time around corners I was good. Only had a few times passing bikes who wanted to ride on everypart of the road except for the right side.
Run:My legs were not as stiff this time versus last year, and I was able to run and catch some people. But I was still tired and the first mile seemed to take forever. Now I will have to do IG again next year and see if I can do a better bike when it is dry.
