Comment: MY FAVORITE RACE!!!

Race Report:

So I just read Bob Reid's race report....and feel like I could have just signed my name to it! (Except for the fast swim time:) This is by far my favorite race! Rocky Gap is just beautiful. And Danny & I make a weekend of it and go up Friday night and camp....Saturday is a great day of an easy course ride, fishing, swimming, chilling by the lake, and of course an awesome campfire to cook by. While the folks at DIRT had rain on Saturday, we had a gorgeous low humidity day. It's hard to get anxious about a tri when you're enjoying all that! But don't get me wrong....this is the HARDEST tri we do (so far:)...it is mentally challenging to have to do 2 loops of both the swim and the ride. And the trail "run" is no run....climb/hike/pray you don't break an ankle is more like it:)

SWIM:
34:44 - Always my Achilles heel, just can't seem to get any faster but at least I feel comfortable in the water. And since there are only 2 waves 3 minutes apart, I do get the satisfaction of passing some guys in my age group:)

BIKE:
48:23 1st loop...47:51 2nd loop. Just like Bob described....very challenging, very rocky (it IS Rocky Gap!), hard to pass on single track but fun to try! I had taken a severe header trying to do a teeter-totter at FountainHead just 6 days prior and was lucky I didnt break my neck (seriously...we found out the day before a girl had tried it and knocked herself out cold so they shut it down)...so anyway, I was glad I felt comfotable racing at RG. I made it up Evitts on the 1st loop which was very cool...not sure it is actually faster to ride it than walk it but it's good for your mental game!!

RUN:
52:33....actually liked it this year (that's sick!)...no injuries and hiking up the shoot is cool! Funny the photographer is right there to capture our pain:)

So my one frustration....my age group kicks A$$!! After making the podium last year with 4th, this year I dropped to 6th....despite cutting almost 6 minutes off my PR!!! And every other AG I would have finished no worse than 2nd!! So satisfaction with my PR and kicking the 20 & 30 somethings butts....but I wanted my beer mug trophy:):)

More MMTC at this race next year....it's a BLAST!!
