I wasn't planning to do this race and was planning on doing North East as my first Oly, but I got caught up in the club excitement back in the Fall when everyone was registering and registered too. Also, back in the Fall I decided to try to bring my tri up a level and hired a coach. She's brought me along brilliantly and now my run has become stronger than my bike.
My race plan was to do a solid swim and bike and save up the extra energy for the run.
I had a lot of contact early, and some contact throughout. I also had early goggles issues: first fogging, and then leaking. I can't help but wonder how much time I lost while dealing with this. Finally settled in and had a good swim.
Swim 32:55 23/41 AG
T1 2:52 6/41 AG
This went so much better and than any of my training rides. I held back some, coasted most of the descents, and had a great ride.
Bike 1:32:26 (16.5mph) 21/41 AG
T2 1:32 7/41 AG
I'd only run the course once, at the Brick N Pic, but had a really good run that day and felt good about the race. Of course, as soon as I started the run today I knew it was going to be a lot harder than that training run. I was moving pretty slow on the climbs, but kept good speed everywhere else and I was able to push up the pace on the last mile of so. Good run.
Run 1:02:31(10:04mm) 18/41 AG
This was a great first Oly, made better by all the MMTC support. Thanks!
