Race Report:

This was my 1st triathlon ever last year, just a few months after I started running & learned how to ride a bike with gears. I've had a few injuries this spring, so although I wasn't where I'd hoped to be training-wise, I was really pleased to see that I'd shaved 16 minutes off my total time from last year, and that each split was faster than at Iron Girl. Some day I hope to break 20 minutes on the swim, and actually run the whole way.

Having the support of so many teammates & people I've met through the club was so nice yesterday, and especially on the run, which is still pretty discouraging to me - hearing Bryan on top of that ugly hill, and then seeing all that yellow rounding the lake, was just what I needed. The tent of course, and the ice-cold Diet Coke and watermelon were heavenly. Thanks so much to all of you who came out, helped, and cheered. What a great sport when even a lumpy middle-aged mom can find her place on the podium!

Swim: 22:06 (I need to practice swimming rectangles vs. trapezoids). Ginger capsules & earplugs may be placebos, but no more motion sickness in the swim.

T1: 4:02 hmmmm.....

Bike: 1:10:40, 14.9 mph. It's getting there, so I'm pleased.

T2: 1:52 more respectable...

Run: 40:41, 11:58/mile. Considering how much of it I walked, I can't complain. My hip was actually ok, but I just couldn't catch my breath or get my HR down. Some young guy passed me in the chute, which of course wasn't cool, so I sprinted at then end til I thought I'd pass out - almost kept it up, but not quite......
