I'll try to keep this short! It was a great day for a race. The weather was perfect ( sunny and warm, but not humid with a cool breeze! ). I started my swim at 7:58 am.
Swim 22:22 265/947
My swim time was slow, but when getting out of the water I thought that I was going really fast. I try to do 2:05/100meters right now, but I averaged a 2:14/100 meter pace. The water was kinda gross, but once you get going you forget to realize what it is you are swimming in and just tend to think about where and how far you need to go.
T1: 2:11 103/947
It was a bit of a jog up to the transition area from the water, but not too bad. I kinda fumbled with my helmet since I forgot to leave it unbuckled, but that was a very minor setback.
Bike: 54:51 95/947
The bike was decent, although I felt that I could go faster. I struggled getting clipped in at the very beginning, and I really struggled on the hills on Homewood Road. However I passed by about 10 people on Mt Albert who were either walking on weaving ( thank you RBR training!!! ) I finished the ride strong even hitting 40 mph on my bike for the first time!

Run: 29:30 274/947
The run is by far my weakest leg of the race! The hills kind of got me down to a staggering pace on the part of the course where you go up to the tennis courts and the skate park. I was really hurting up through there, but by the time I started heading downhill and I knew the finish line was nearing I put on the jets and finished really strong. I need to work on being strong throughout the run of a sprint triathlon. One area which I should look to improve is the intake of food. I had a gel packet with me, but never ate it.
Thanks MMTC for the tents and chairs! It was great fun hanging out with everybody that day! I can't wait to get back for another race!
