Race Report:

Short and sweet, it's like a workout with all your friends!

I've done this race quite a few times, but took the last two years off for various health reasons. I was looking forward to see how I'd do today with allergies and everything else under control. It's a fun race for a great cause (Melanoma Research)

It was great to hang at the tent with the Vess family and everyone else. I had a late swim start...it was a very relaxing morning.

Pool swim went without a hitch. No panic attack and I felt strong. It's short...sad to say that my arms still felt tight as I finished. Should have warmed up more, but I'll take it!

The bike ride is beautiful. Low traffic, lots of trees and peeks of farmland. Really one of my favorite short courses in the area. Just the right number of hills to feel challenged. I have to say there was one downhill with a strong wind. I've never pedaled so hard downhill!!

The run is a simple out at back, but you run behind the swim club with a path cut through the overgrowth. I found the rocky road a little challenging and was happy to be baking on the pavement after a little while. It's never a cool run for this race, since there is no tree cover. The first leg is mostly uphill and a fast return downhill.

It was my first race ever and remains my favorite!

I got to run across the finish line with both of my boys, which really was the best part!

Congrats to all the MMTRI folks who placed!!
