First half marathon experience for me. I was considering an outstanding performance breaking 3 hours, a good one averaging less than 15 minutes per mile, and an acceptable one, finishing. Failure was not an option! : )
Pretty much everything that could've gone wrong for me, did. Was cranking out 12:30-13:00 miles for the first 4-5 miles, then right after the mile 5 marker I started to hurt. Everywhere. Even got nauseous and had a headache which has NEVER happened to me since I started running a bit more than a year ago. I've gone longer at that pace so I don't know what the heck was going on.
Finish showed an average mile of about 14:45, so I hit my mark. Doing it in less than 3 hours probably wasn't realistic for me anyway, but no harm in trying!
Quite pleased that Murphy's Law didn't stop me from reaching a goal! And, getting the first half ever under my belt's an awesome feeling too! Nowhere to go but up.
