I was surprised I had a PR today (2 minutes faster). I had a hard week of strength training resulting in sore legs. This is the first year I focused on heart rate vs. pace. It must have worked.
It was colder than expected, so I brought extra clothes and used them. I also used a fuel belt with 2x6oz bottles. May seem unnecesary for a 10k, but I prefer a small water bottle over those paper cups. Just me. BTW, I may be caring a little extra weight, but I passed plenty of people slowing down for a drink.
One thing to remember for next year is to keep running past the finish line right down to the food line. Man, those lines were long. I came in the top third and still waited forever.
