Race Report:

Iron Girl is such a great event, I have to race it. This was my first triathlon since my ill- fated crash at Eagleman on June 10th. When i first started competing in triathlons 15 years ago at the age of 50, (First Tri Dewey Sprint)I routinely placed second and sometimes even first because so few women were in my age group. Well that has all changed. Over the years, more and more women are participating in the sport at more mature ages and are doing well against their peers. I've really got to step it up. Sunday was no exception. I had a decent but not great swim, a good bike and a better run (for me) but not against my competitors. 4h place passed me on the run and beat me by a mere 18 seconds. I am always happy to finish and it's nice to get the most applause at any Columbia Tri event because I am well known.Bur jJust be forewarned. When you get to be my age, the competitors who are left standing are fierce. Oh and next year I age up into Marge Burley's group. See what I mean. :)
