My race at Columbia went as well as could have been expected. I was well prepared for the race and the conditions were perfect. No glitches in the morning prep. I almost forgot to put my water bottles on my bike but at the last minute remembered and ran back to transition and got them on just as they were closing transition.
My swim went well. I felt good. My goal was sub 21 mins. but I swam 23 mins and change so not to bad. As I later heard the course was a bit long who knows.
On to the bike and off I went. I'm riding a new bike this year and it really seems to fly. Especially up the hills of Columbia. So I felt good on the bike my speed was up and my legs felt fresh during the entire ride. Spirits are real high going into T2 but will my legs be there on the run?? New personal record on the bike 1:12.
They were! Turn over was quick and felt good. My stomach was settled and I felt fast, look at the watch 6:57 for the first mile. Better slow slightly the hills are coming. My run time was 44 mins and change a new PR for me on that course. Needless to say I was happy.
In to the finish with a 2:24:03 an overall PR by 10 mins.! I credit it to two things Doug Mock's track work and the great conditions.
