I had a really good day, my goal was to stay under 2 hours and I did that with 2 seconds to spare, when I was coming in and saw the clock I really had to sprint to the finish, but I got there. It was 11 minutes faster than last years race but with a 1.5 mile shorter bike course.
about 6 whole seconds faster than last years swim and I actually felt great, I just need to figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong here because I'm putting the time in, I'm just not getting any faster, I have a session with Doug Saar on Saturday and I'm really hoping to get somewhere with him. I’m tired of being so far behind in the swim and having to really chase down bikes to get in the running.
Bike: 55:24 (17.3 mph)
I was very happy with my bike, especially since last year I was only about 15 something mph. I passed 243 bikes during the bike portion. I was happy to be cruising along and feeling great. There were a lot of people riding in large groups here, I guess this will happen in shorter races, a lot of first times and such and just not knowing, I was just screaming “on your left” and hoping they’d let me go on by.
Run: 31:06 (9:09 min/mile)
My run was actually slower than last year by 21 seconds per mile, I really just have to work on getting my run legs back after actually pushing on the bike. I had to walk a little on the hills which I wasn’t happy about. It was so great seeing everyone at Gatorade hill, got my water from Sharon and as always she was yelling and cheering me along. I need to get myself some mid md tri gear to start wearing out there.
Had a blast and overall very happy with the day!
