B & A Trail Marathon
Not even close to goal time (BQ is 3:35:00)
I haven't been sleeping well or feeling strong so I wasn't surprised.
Pulled my lower back out 12 days ago (cycling) and didn't see a PT and get it fixed until Friday morning (too late).
Mile markers were way off, felt like I was working too hard just to maintain my goal pace.
Rain on & off wasn't great, arm warmers got soaked and made me cold until I pulled them down.
When the wind picked up, it was from the WNW and was only hitting us hard from 16-19, then gave us a tailwind back.
1/2 marathon marker seemed right, but was around 1:50:00, so I knew I was going too slow. Decided to start walking the aid stations.
Quads started barking around 20, calves pre-cramped around 22, but never really cramped up. Better than last year (but also slower)
Feet really hurt, esp. after 20 miles, now I have many new blisters.

Pre-Race:
Flounder and double Ramen for dinner (done by 6:30)
Double Benadryl and melatonin before bed.
Reading by 10, asleep by 11, woke at 3:11, but got 57 minutes of deep sleep)
Alarm at 5:30, on the road by 6:30, arrived just past 7.

Race Day:
New race cap ($1), Tri-jersey, arm-warmers, shorts w/pockets.
No calve sleeves (for at work) or orthotics (big mistake)
Shoes have over 200 miles on them also.
2 x 5 oz bottles, one w/100 grams of maltodextrin
7 gels, one every 30 minutes, drinking malto in between
Refilled other bottle at water stops instead of stopping (until after 1/2)
Took Leg Cramp tablets for a couple of days before the race (not on race day), maybe they helped?
